Ontario introduces Dutch Heritage Month

The government of the Canadian province of Ontario has procolaimed the month of May ‘Dutch Heritage Month’. The provincial parliament has adopted a proposal introduced by MP Elizabeth Witmer, a native of the Dutch town of Schiedam. Dutch MPs agree to troops on merchant ships

The Dutch parliament has agreed to deploy Dutch troops on board a number of Dutch merchant ships to protect them against piracy in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. Holland and Germany harbouring doubts

An error on a Google map suggests that Emden harbour in western Germany has been annexed by the Netherlands. Emden is close to the German-Dutch border, which runs roughly along the middle of an estuary separating the two countries.
