The first full day of Scotland’s largest music festival came to an end with a bang as US rapper Eminem took to the stage.
A loud bang, later attributed to electrical error interrupted the controversial star’s encore as he closed the festivities at T in the Park on Saturday night.
As the sun set over Balado Airfield in Kinross-shire, the rapper headlined the most eclectic line-up in the festival’s history for his only UK gig this summer.
Taking to the stage some 50 minutes behind schedule, he delighted the audience with renditions of his most popular hits – despite addressing them as “Edinburgh”.
And rain failed to dampen the spirits of revellers as, across the field, UK dance crossover act The Prodigy entertained thousands more.
Earlier, music fans donned their wellies and danced in the rain as Scots favourites the Proclaimers took to the stage on the first full day of the festival.
Speaking after their set, Charlie Reid said: “It does mean a lot. People do get sentimental about Scotland, but this does matter.
“To get acts like Jay-Z and Eminem to me, as a Scot, artists like that coming here and going, I remember that.
“Getting Eminem to play his only UK festival show this year you’ve got to say, that’s a big achievement.”
They joined Paulo Nutini and up and coming Indie stars Kassidy to represent Scottish music at the festival. The X Factor`s Diana Vickers brought some pop sunshine to the stage, while singer-songstress Kate Nash and DJ Yoda also entertained the crowds.
