The Norwegian Defence Minister Grete Faremo supports US President Barack Obama’s decision to fire head of the allied forces in Afghanistan, General Stanley McCrystal, after his critical statements.
Faremo says it is very important that there is no doubt about which strategy which is to be used in Afghanistan.
- What is important now is that the work to create peace and stability in Afghanistan continues according to the strategy, and that the focus on training and education of the Afghan security forces continues, in order that the Afghan forces in time will be able to take over responsibility for their own security and nation building, the Norwegian Defenc e Minister says.
