The deadline for arbitration in the public sector expires at midnight, and 30,000 employees are ready to go on strike. Among them are pre-school teachers, teachers, nurses, physiotherapists and police.
In the first round, the strike will hit the major cities, Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim.
The main dicussion point in the arbitration is the demand for equal pay for equal jobs for men and women.
